Happiness

What is it that makes you happy?
Last class we discussed the relationship between travelling and the quest for happiness and we briefly touched on other aspects that can make us happy. Does it have to do with joy, success or the good life? Have your say!
You may be interested in these articles from the bbc site. There is also a test to check how happy you are.

Hi everyone!
The article is quite interesting but to some extent rather predictable. Happiness is something which is not necessarily linked to wealth... Anyway, I believe that what make us happy is exactally this quest for hapiness as well as not knowing what happiness is. Once you've got everything you wanted this never-ending process (the quest) may come to a halt and boredom may be the only thing left... Life is something complex and there are no hard and fast rules for a better understanding of everything it involves... Things are the way they've got to be.. perfect! Maybe it's a state of mind or a comparison between happy and sad moments in life... the larger amount gives you the final verdict: You are a happy person!(or not!)
Cheers!

I agree, Fabrini! Life is not perfect all the time even for the luckiest of mortals. So there's no such thing as perfect happiness. And I'd like to add a point. I believe that facing our challenges and working through the difficulties and hardships can actually make our lives more interesting!

Hi guys!
I also agree with Fabrini... Happiness is not directly linked to wealth, but it depends on your expectations and dreams and also on what can make you FEEL really happy. Moreover, it is important to be open to small things that can bring real joy to our lives, such as when my three-year-old little princess, while playng with me with her dolls, turned suddenly to me and said:"Mom, you are Yasmin`s life ( that is her name)!", and then she smiled and gave me a warm hug ...It is something worthy to live for...

Hi people!

Finally, here I am...
Although everyone wants to be happy, when they are, they do not know it indeed. It is quite difficult to figure out when we have already reached the feeling of happiness because we always want more. There are people who have got 'everything', such as: family, material things, job, love etc, but if you ask some of them about happiness, it is possible to find one who thinks he is not happy enough.
Even though my life has been quite hard recently, I do think I am a happy woman. I have learnt that happiness can be found out by smelling the flowers, i.e., playing with my children on Sunday afternoon, planting (I've got a big place to plant now!), cooking (preparing my Sunday barbacue), looking at the stars...and over the house I built...they are even more beautiful...
